Bridging the Majority – Minority Divide....Israel....Youth exchange - Euro-Med

Bridging the Majority - Minority Divide" is the title of youth exchange project presented by an advocacy centre for Arab citizens of Israel. Their aim is to improve the social, economic and political status of the Arab citizens in Israel through providing for example legal advocacy, analysis of state budget and economic programs, lobbying, media campaigns, youth exchanges and trainings on human rights.
The youth exchange takes place in Haifa (IL) but also includes field tours to Beer Sheva and Northern regions of the country as well as to Jerusalem. There are 35 participants (14 IL, 7 JO, 7 UK and 7 BE) and 6 group leaders. The participants will explore the majority - minority dynamics through historical and cultural as well as social and political perspectives. The ways to equalise power imbalances between minorities and majorities will be discussed. The exchange programme includes discussions and workshops related to the theme, field tours in order to explore the different histories of the majority and minority groups as well as leisure time activities to enforce the intercultural group spirit.
